Hi! I’m Meredith from Raleigh, NC. I am a business owner, designer, project manager & real estate investor. I attended Meredith College [insert Meredith who went to Meredith joke here] and graduated in the height of the Great Recession. Luckily, I was able to find a job as a receptionist at a countertop fabricator which opened the door to some exciting opportunities in both construction and design.

I began selling cabinets for a local cabinet company which is where I met my husband, Craig. We sold our portion of the cabinet business in 2018 and we’ve tried on many hats since. We worked as sales reps for a cabinet manufacturer for a short while. After that, we we’re subcontracted project managers before buying into a General Contracting business with a friend of ours. It was with the GC company where we started to gain some construction knowledge and experience. We started dreaming about running our own projects for our own properties and hence, the seed (or metaphorical acorn) was planted. We just weren’t sure how to get started!

Even though we felt confident on the construction side of house flipping, we didn’t know the first thing about real estate investing. We decided to purchase a HomeVestors® franchise to give us the tools we’d need to be successful in this business. We purchased the franchise and started our business, Green Acorn Properties LLC, in January of 2020 – we really have a knack for timing these things 🙂

Over these past few years we’ve learned a lot about real estate and also about ourselves. We’ve experienced some exciting “wins” but we’ve also eaten our fair share of humble pie. At the end of the day, we’re so grateful to be living our dreams and also that we’re able to work together every day as a team.
